The Psychological Center Safe Haven Program is dedicated to the care of homeless adults, often dually diagnosed and/or has a primary mental illness diagnoses. Many of our residents suffer with substance abuse and are receiving services from The Department of Mental Health. Safe Haven is an open and accepting environment of all ethnicities and sexuality.
Safe Haven is a twelve bed residential program, and transitional program operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We work in collaboration with The Department of Mental Health and surrounding agencies to assist in meeting the needs of each individual. Our primary purpose is to give each individual a safe place to stay and to receive support with hygiene, medication, relapse prevention, social support, job referrals, housing referrals, and assistance with daily living skills. Individuals receive 1:1 support, giving clients ownership of their goals and services.
Safe Haven utilizes the modules of evidence-based therapy such as client-centered therapy, giving the individual the ability to identify areas that he/she would like to focus within their treatment planning, along with Motivational Interviewing. Individuals are encouraged to be active participants in their treatment and meet with caseworkers on a weekly basis to discuss their growth and concerns.
Safe Haven staff assists clients with their appointments. We provide transportation and advocate for our clients when needed. Our program offers breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday and breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday and Sunday. We also provide structured social activities during the evening and weekends for our residents, who are encouraged to participate and become an active member in the Safe Haven community. Safe Haven staff take pride in improving the lives of individuals who are in need and who are looking for further support.
Safe Haven works in collaboration with The Point After Club, The Psychological Center Day One Program, along with other surrounding agencies. All residence are able to receive Outpatient Therapy and Medication Management at The Psychological Center.
